1. What personally identifiable information is collected from you?

Eden Project collects information in a variety of ways from different parts of the Service.

Some information is gathered when you register. During registration to the mailing list, Eden Project asks for your email address, date of birth, gender and country of residence.

From time to time, we may ask you for personal information, including (but not limited to) when you enter a contest or promotion sponsored by Eden Project.  If you contact Eden Project, we may keep a record of that correspondence. Eden Project also occasionally asks users to complete surveys that we use for research purposes. All other information gathered is optional and is used to publish your member profile for other members of your community to know more about you, and to better target the advertising to your interests.

2. What are cookies and how are they used?

Eden Project uses cookies to store information about you. A cookie is a small amount of data that is sent to your browser from a web server and stored on your computer. Cookies are used to:

When you are on Eden Project website and are asked for personal information by Eden Project, you are sharing that information with Eden Project alone, unless it is specifically stated otherwise. Please be aware that Eden Project advertisers or web sites that have links on our site may collect personally identifiable information about you. 4. How is the information used?

Eden Project primary goal in collecting personal information is to provide you, the member, with a customized experience. By knowing a little bit about you, Eden Project is able to deliver more relevant content and, hence, a better service to you.

Eden Project also does research on our member's demographics, interests and behaviour based on the information provided to us upon registration to the mailing lists, during a promotion, from our server logs or from surveys. We do this to better understand our users. This research is compiled and analysed on an aggregated basis. Eden Project may share this aggregated data with potential advertisers or business partners.

5. With whom may the information be shared?

As a general rule, Eden Project will not disclose any of your personally identifiable information except when we have your permission or under special circumstances, such as when we believe in good faith that the law requires it. Eden Project does not sell or rent user information to anyone. If you do not wish to allow your data to be shared, you can choose not to use a particular service or not to participate in certain promotions or contests.

Your account information is password protected so that only you have access to this personal information. We recommend that you do not divulge your password to anyone. Unfortunately, no data transmission over the Internet can be guaranteed to be 100% secure. As a result, while we strive to protect your personal information, Eden Project cannot ensure or warrant the security of any information you transmit to us or from our online products or services, and you do so at your own risk. Once we receive your transmission, we make our best efforts to ensure its security on our systems.

9. How Eden Project protects children's privacy?

The safety and privacy rights of children are very important to us. Eden Project is a general audience web site.

Eden Project will not rent or sell children's personally identifiable information to anyone. Eden Project will send personally identifiable information about a child to other companies or people when:

We have a parent's consent to share the information. Parents have the option of allowing Eden Project's collection and use of their child's information without consenting to Eden Project's sharing of this information with people and companies who may use this information for their own purposes. If you do not wish to allow your child's information to be shared with third parties, you should not permit your child to participate in promotions and contests requiring the sharing of information.
We need to send the information to companies that work on behalf of Eden Project to provide a product or service that has been requested. Please note that whenever you voluntarily disclose personal information online, including in your correspondence within a discussion group, that information can be collected and used by others.
