tin-can-robotWe’ve got some ‘rubbish’ Christmas presents at the Eden Project Shop – yes, they really are made partly of rubbish.

Take this tin can robot for instance; you’ll need to recycle a can to make it! The robot is not only great fun to build and play with – it does a silly walk when it’s turned on – it encourages kids to think about the millions of cans being sent to landfill every day.

You can order the tin can robot from the online Eden Project Shop.

Mining provides the raw materials for cans, yet when mines close the environmental and socio-economic legacy can be huge. There are, however, excellent ways to regenerate former mining sites: the Eden Project itself was built in a former clay mine.

Eden is home to the Post-Mining Alliance – an independent, not-for-profit group that works to encourage and promote the regeneration of old mine sites for the sustainable benefit of the local community and natural environment.
