Green New Year resolutions for 2011
As we approached 2011, we asked you all to share your hopes and dreams for the coming year. Thanks for sharing your New Year resolutions with us. Here’s a selection that have inspired us:
1. Elaine Parker from Oghma Project Services, a construction company, wants to work with others to find new uses for reclaimed wood.
2. Jane Spinks wants to have a complete organic veg patch up and running making her own compost and water butts.
3. Local Newquay company, Atlantic Diving, are going to work to use alternative marine fuel for their diving boats
4. Hall for Cornwall in Truro will be purchasing eco paints to use in their theatre.
5. Andrew Headon is going to use solar power to charge his phone, camera and other gadgets, including his laptop.
6. Hooper Graphics in Redruth are going to set up a website to promote a community environmental clean-up projects.
7. Trenython Hotel near Fowey is going to purchase a bio-composter.
8. Philip Sanderson Accountants in Bude will be planting trees on a nearby piece of wasteland to offset their carbon outputs.
9. Computoz Systems in Bude will be investing in a community allotment.
10. Lisa Horner is going to be more involved in nature and thinking of swimming in the sea at Leigh-on-Sea, in the winter. Her motto for 2011 is to: ‘Try and be more involved in nature so that you can appreciate physically rather than just intellectually.’

I shall only buy plants from British nurseries to help save plant miles, support the local growers and have better quality plants which are more likely to survive in our interesting climate!
