This week’s Plant Record: Witch Hazel
For a bit of fun on Fridays Chris Bisson, the guy who maintains all the recorded information on Eden’s plant collection as our Plant Records Manager, recommends his favourite “plant records” – that is, songs that are in some way linked to a plant.
This week’s tune: ‘Just Don’t Try’, by Witch Hazel
As you make your way down the steps into our gardens, you’re greeted by our splendid display of Witch Hazel. Looking like minature fireworks the flowers on these great plants really do warm the cockles.
Witch Hazel released this 7” back in 1993 on their own record label, Bubblegum. I think it probably would have been a massive hit had it been released later, as it maybe didn’t fit in with the onset of grunge at the time. A great track none-the-less and deserves to be played twice in my opinion…
