Big Lunch brightens communities nationwide
Wow, we think that yesterday’s Big Lunch, the nationwide community get-together kickstarted by the Eden Project, was the biggest since the annual event started three years ago.
Despite the wet weather in many areas, over a million people the length and breadth of the UK got together in their neighbourhood’s for food, fun, games and conversation at thousands of Big Lunches.
Some people held cosy community BBQs, while others hosted lively street parties. Already we’ve heard about stilt walkers in Penzance, picnics in Shetland and street parties in Londonderry.
Big Lunchers have raised thousands of pounds for charity, painted huge community murals and got people out of their homes and meeting their neighbours for the first time in years.
Check out some of the uplifting comments on Facebook. You might get inspiration to hold your own next year. Or if you did get involved yesterday, The Big Lunch team would love to hear about it. Email them at: info@thebiglunch.com
