Go back to school with a smile: book an Eden education workshop
With 1 million weird and wonderful plants, huge geodesic structures and playful exhibits, the kids are not going to fall asleep in Eden’s ‘living classroom’. So this term, why not try one of our schools workshops, specially tailored for year groups from Foundation through to Key Stage 4?
Each one is run by one of our experienced education officers, using tried and tested techniques to get students involved. Far from just sitting in a classroom, during the day students get to trek deep into the jungle in our Rainforest Biome and cross whole continents in our Mediterranean Biome, all in the name of learning.

Plus, we’ve designed them so that they boost key skills including Geography, Art, Science and Sustainability, helping teachers meet the requirements of the National Curriculum.
Examples of our primary school sessions include Ready Steady Sow, in which kids investigate all sorts of unusual seeds from around the world, and the Crazy Chef Challenge, where pupils explore the rainforest to find the ingredients needed for a special cake (which they get to eat at the end!)
For secondary school students there’s the likes of Climate Challenge, exploring the interdependence between nature and people in the context of a changing climate, and Hands-on DNA, where students get to use cutting-edge equipment to explore bacterial evolution (an exclusive session for Science Week in March 2012).

We’re constantly checking that our workshops are as educational – and fun – as we want them to be. So we’re dead proud that 92% of teachers rated their workshops as ‘brilliant’ in our latest survey. One of them told us: ‘It was a fascinating workshop which absorbed the children completely.’
As for the kids, well, they said they loved:
- ‘the part where we learnt all about the plants that we could eat’
- ‘taste testing chocolate’
and that they definitely learnt lots too:
- ‘I learnt that the tropical rainforest has a lot to do with our life!’
- ‘that pineapples grow out of plants in the ground, not in the trees’
- ‘No one has the solution, but if everyone is willing to help then we can do it and that’s what people are working on’
Check out the full range of our school workshops, which cost from £3.80, and find out how to book your place this term.
