How to grow mushrooms
Have you ever wondered how to grow mushrooms at home?
We have! We’re keen lovers of good food at Eden, and also fond of an occasional spot of gardening, so we’ve joined forces with a local Cornish mushroom farm to bring you the Mushroom Log.
Harvested from sustainable woodlands, and available in either Cornish Beech or Cornish Oak, our Mushroom Logs have been inoculated with Shiitake spawn (Lentinula edodes) for growing your own Shiitake mushrooms at home. Although well known as a delicacy all over the world, the Shiitake Mushroom originated in Eastern Asia and has a rich, smoky flavour.
A great food gift for Christmas, especially for lovers of mushrooms, our Mushroom Log contains everything you need to grow, pick and eat your own Shiitake mushrooms at home for years to come.
Your mushroom log is sent out to you fully colonised by the fungi and ready to spawn mushrooms after just a short rest from travelling. It comes with full care instructions as well as helpful hints and tips in how to produce mushrooms from your log for many years.
Grow your own truffles
If you love the idea of growing your own Shiitake mushrooms, you might also be like to try growing truffles. We have oak and hazel trees that have been inoculated with rare native British truffle spores. Plant them out and in a few years you’ll have a lovely tree and a wonderful crop of truffles.
