Prepare for the cold snap by sorting your energy bill this autumn
We’ve all started to feel the chilly autumn mornings this week; it’s that time of year when we resist turning on the heating, but expensive energy bills are already on our minds…
If they’re worrying you, one easy thing you can do is join the collective energy buying scheme which Eden is backing. It could save you £432 off your annual energy bill if you join by 28 October 2012
The Cornwall Together initiative has been set up to help households save money on fuel bills, by negotiating cheaper energy tariffs on their behalf.
How it works
- UK residents register their interest with the scheme to find a cheaper energy tariff, providing details of their current fuel bills – by Sunday 28 October 2012.
- On 29 October 2012 Cornwall Together negotiates on behalf of all those that have registered to get best value tariffs. As well as identifying best value deals, wherever possible a green energy option will be offered.
- For each energy switch, 10% of the total money saved will be put back into a fuel poverty fund which will benefit the whole county. Cornwall Together will then seek match-funding from other organisations.
Conceived by the Eden Project, Cornwall Together was originally pioneered by Cornwall Council, the NHS, Community Energy Plus and Community Buying UnLtd. They have been joined by delivery partners energyshare – the community renewable energy platform – and uSwitch.com, the independent price comparison and switching service
Join us to save money on your energy bills
So far, more than 2,700 people have joined the initiative and Cornwall Together is aiming to have 5,000 members by the end of September.
The more people join in, the stronger our collective voice and the better value the tariffs offered by energy suppliers will be.
So tell your granny, your friends, your colleagues to get in on the act by 28 October – and spend just five minutes joining up to save up to £432.
Bring your bill and meet the team
The Cornwall Together team will be visiting locations around Cornwall throughout autumn 2012, where you can bring your current energy bill along and find out how you can save. Here’s where you can find them when:
21-23 September: Looe Music Festival
26 September: Cornwall Council, ‘Bring your bill to work’
28 September: County Arms, Truro
1 October: Eden Cafe, St Austell
3 October: Callington Honey Fair
5 October: Saltash Library
12 October: Camborne one stop shop
