Why we can’t get enough of our new vegetable tables

Our buyers here at Eden are delighted with our new raised vegetable tables having re-sourced them from the most ethical sawmill they could find.

Since our horticulture team planted the vegetable table here at Eden with an array of chillies, it’s been admired by visitors asking where they can find their own. So now we’ve got our own range on the Eden online shop, with a choice of four sizes to fit any garden.

Our outdoor raised veg table is the easy way to grow herbs, vegetables and fruits without the strain of bending over. This is therefore incredibly handy for gardeners with bad backs, or people in wheelchairs.

Why we love our wooden veg tables:

Felled, designed, created and seasoned just up the road

Our vegetable tables have very low ‘log-miles’, as all the wood is local sourced. This timber is milled, kiln-dried, pressure treated, machined and manufactured on site, so there’s a more quality control over the entire process, from tree to finished veg table.

Sustainably sourced wood

All the timber used is from Cornish sustainably managed woodlands. They’re FSC and PEFC approved, which means they’re really careful about sourcing and responsible forest management. And for each tree they chop down, they plant three more.

Intelligent energy sourcing

Waste chippings from the mill acutally fuel the drying kilns, so the energy comes from a renewable source – much better for the planet. The manufacturers have plans to use a wood-pellet biomass to power the whole site.

These vegetable tables have proved a huge success in local schools and council offices, as they’re handy for concreted yards or scraps of barren land. You can order your own here.
