The season for the summer truffle is from May - December. They need to be harvested when they are ripe or they will rot away. There is no reason why the tree won't produce truffles if all the guidelines are followed.

Here is a link to our planting instruction booklet, which also has a section on how to find the truffles. Please also see the dog training guide, as it is best to use a dog to find the mature truffles.

How does one know if their trees are producing truffles, do they need trained dogs or pigs for the purpose and what are the practicalities of that? If there are truffles there, must they be harvested within a certain window of time or be lost, or can they be left to increase in size without rotting? Presuming reasonable conditions (e.g., soil acidity, proper temperature, etc.) what are the odds that one will get a reasonable yield rather than come up empty handed?

Brilliant news! For those of us that are responsible dog owners, cleaning up after them and keeping them under control, we are thrilled. We love Eden, but hate leaving our dog behind, especially when he could be enjoying it with us! Thanks, looking forward to it!!!!

Hi, Thanks for leaving your comments. We are trialling letting dogs in this weekend, with strict rules as detailed above, and then make a call on whether to do it again.

We are sorry that Eden will be allowing dogs and hope that they will be restricted to certain times,we like animals but we love Eden and visit regularly,as much as we like dogs we live near Par beach where irresponsible dog owners do not clean up the mess and they are allowed to run everywhere ,very frightening if we take our young grandchildren especially when wehave to bring them home to wash dog excretement off their clothes

If 'dogs on leads' is interpreted as the long retractable leads, the result could be chaos. To have any control, it would need to be short leads specified and monitored.
But in any event, Eden's paths were not designed with dog walkers in mind - they're too narrow. I would not risk my dogs meeting others of unknown temperament in such a confined space, let alone my children.
I also fail to see what possible enjoyment the dogs themselves would get from going around Eden. Just a forest of legs and strange dogs.
Mine are much happier being walked properly beforehand, then resting quietly in the familiar surroundings of the car in the shade, with clean water available.
I wouldn't drink out of communal water bowls and I don't want them doing so either.

I am in the area this weekend and was planning my first visit to the Eden Project. I now see it's a 'doggie weekend'. Sorry, another time possibly. I understand the difference in philosophy between owners and non-owners (how can anyone 'own' an animal?) but that will never be resolved.

Hey, what about people with feathered friends? I can't believe I'm not allowed to bring my parrot to Eden, hopefully you'll arrange a bird-friendly day soon!
