Plants of the month
With three climatic zones and over a million plants, Eden never fails to provide anything less than a jaw-dropping horticultural extravaganza.
Our May highlights
Outdoor Biome
Dicentra ‘Queen of Hearts’
Beautiful rose-pink bleeding hearts, hanging in long dainty clusters among delicate foliage.
Rainforest Biome
Turmeric, Curcuma longa
Who would think that this unassuming clump of long green leaves could be so versatile? The bright orange roots are dried and ground to make the staple of most curries, but in India the plant also has ceremonial, medicinal and cosmetic uses.
Mediterranean Biome
Bird of paradise, Strelitzia reginae
Our Strelitzias will be looking stunning through May. These birds of paradise, which take their name from their bird-like shape, have large buds of promise and can grow to a height of 2m.
Tree anemone, Carpenteria californica
A rare evergreen native to California. It produces cheery white flowers with a mass of yellow stamens in the centre. It may look like a fried egg, but the scent is heavenly!
