Freaky Nature: explore the strange world of plants

At Freaky Nature you’ll discover exploding plants, sticky plants, smelly plants and even carnivorous plants that bite back! After playing with our interactive exhibits you'll never look at plants the same way again!

Activities: Monday 16 April – Friday 1 June 2012

  • Exhibition of botanical paintings: browse the beautiful artwork of some of the fascinating plants growing at Eden, created by members of the Eden Project Florilegium Society
  • Welcome to the Dark Side: Deadly or delightful? Check out the powerful plants, discover their survival tactics: poisons, prickles, aggression...even meat eaters!
  • Big it Up: Put plants, seeds and microbes under the lens with our mega-microscopes.
  • Weekends only:  Sticky Survival: Hurl yourself at our sticky wall and get a feel for the way some seeds get about! £2.50 per person. (Buy tickets from Freaky Nature shop on the Stage.)

  • Designer Life: Choose your materials to make a perfect plant that’s fit for function.

  • Plant Survival Games Series: Have a go at our four fabulous games to learn more freaky ways of plant survival. Collect your stamps to complete the series!
  • Face painting and temporary tattoos: Make like a flower or bug with colourful markings to attract or warn off predators! See price boards for details. Pay at activity.
  • Storytelling in the Mediterranean Biome at 12 and 2pm.
  • Freaky Tour: Find out about on Plant Survival on a 30-minute walkabout in the Med Biome. Sign up and meet at information desk on Link Bridge at 11am, 12.30pm and 2.30pm for a guided walk. Limited numbers per walk, so please register.
  • Freaky Trail: Pick up a Trail sheet when you arrive at Eden - follow the clues to find the weird specimens, and scan the QR codes with your smartphone to find out more!
