Harvest food festival in Cornwall

Come and join us for our inaugural Harvest Festival, which promises to be one of the most memorable food festivals in Cornwall! Over the nine days there will be food, drink, dance and merriment.

We'll help you make the most of your own harvest with our daily talks, including cooking demonstrations and tastings from top chefs and foodies including Norman Musa (Ning Restaurant, Manchester) and Michael Smith (Porthminster Cafe, St Ives). Read profiles of the celebrities.

There'll also be a whole host of Eden Project food producers and suppliers on hand with lots of tastings and food stalls every day.

Price: all the Harvest Festival daytime activities are included in the price of admission while tickets for the James Wong talk and Big Autumn Bash are £15 each and can be booked in advance from the Eden Box Office on 01726 811 972.

Food festival activities and demonstrations

Here’s a little taste of the activities that will be on offer during the festival:

Arts, crafts and harvest festivities

Traditional harvest activities will be taking place including the 'crying the neck' harvest celebration, corn-dolly demonstrations and an exhibition celebrating the amazing stories of Cornish food and drink.

Growing and harvesting workshops

Daily apple pressing and cider making workshops will demonstate how to make the most of the apple season. There'll also be a chance to try out the traditional art of grape treading. Our Eden gardening team will be hosting vegetable growing talks plus Q-and-A sessions and seed-saving workshops.

Cookery and food demonstrations

Showcasing the new bakery at the heart of Eden, our bakers will be giving daily bread-making demonstrations and tastings as well as traditional wheat-milling and flour making. Visiting chefs and food writers from across the country will be cooking up feasts and sharing their foodie secrets in daily talks.

Bottling and preserving workshops

Learn how to make the most of any food gluts with the daily jam- and chutney-making sessions that will cover the basics for beginners plus expert tips for more experienced bottlers. Hands-on demonstrations on the traditional smoking process will show the best way to tackle curing.

Dancing, singing and live music

Throughout the Harvest Festival, live music and traditional barn dancing will be taking place as well as storytelling and singing. There'll be a night of music and food on Friday 7 October – The Big Autumn Bash Hoedown Showdown – in aid of Eden's People and Gardens project.
