We kickstarted the Seeds, Soup and Sarnies project to help people across the UK to set up their own community planting, growing, cooking, sharing and eating groups.

The practical Big Lottery-funded project began in 2009 with targeted family learning courses in Cornwall and Middlesbrough, two areas of the UK where traditional industry has been in decline.
It saw over 180 families improve their plant growing skills and develop their confidence. The courses, day trips and celebration events have also led to more positive intergenerational and social interaction within the two communities.
The Seeds, Soups and Sarnies partners included the Eden Project, Cornwall Council, Cornwall Neighbourhoods for Change and ContinYou.
Visit the Seeds, Soup and Sarnies website to read case studies from the project - or to get ideas for growing, cooking and sharing, whether you’re a parent, are involved in a social enterprise or charity, or teach in a school.
