Sustainability
Sustainability is the one issue that overrides all others in importance for Eden’s future. To be sustainable we have to be making as small an impact on the environment as we can, by using as few resources as are necessary for us to run efficiently and viably.
To this ambition we should add our intention to be as independent as possible in terms of security of our supplies of critical resources such as energy and water.
The aim is not only to establish ourselves as a project operating at the limits of sustainability, but to instill the thinking behind it into the whole culture across all areas of our interest and operation.
An important starting point is the organisation of our asset register - a list of every item Eden owns and who is responsible for it. A substantial cross-site programme has been established to concentrate on constant review, suggesting improvements in our systems and applications and implementing them as soon as possible.
An initial investigative phase has been undertaken in the key areas of waste, energy, water, transport and moveable asset management. This involved the teams and individuals directly involved in the processes but, right from the beginning, constructive comments and inputs from across the entire Eden Team were actively sought.
