What is Gardens for Life?
What makes Gardens for Life different?
Gardens for Life is not a typical school gardening programme. Run as a pilot from 2004-2006, it tested the idea that school gardening could benefit from international linking and vice versa. Having proved to be a success it works in partnership with existing organizations and helps to connect school children around the world so they can share their experiences of growing food.
Who can join?
Gardens for Life is a schools programme, we have members from primary, secondary and special schools. The only condition of membership is that you must have a class or run an after-school class at a school and be able to prove your role or relationship with the school.
Do we need to have a school garden to be a member?
You don't have to have an established garden to join, but you do need to be committed to creating one and making the most of it. We've got some lesson plans to get your lessons started and we have some great case studies that will give you some ideas on how to get going and a guide on what to grow when, as well as a newsletter every term.
What are the benefits of membership?
Members have access to downloadable resources to help support their growing and sharing activities, and we also help you find a suitable school to share your experiences with. We're are currently developing new resources and have some exciting plans for the future. So sign up for our newsletter!
How much does it cost?
Gardens for Life is currently free to all members. All we ask is that you keep us updated on your gardens and your international partners.
How do we join?
Just fill out the form here and we'll send you a link to the resources and if you already have a partner who doesn't have access to the internet we'll send them a CD-R containing the resource pack.
