Winter Greens (Beat the Blues) - Making the most of your edible school garden all year round, Monday September 27, 2010
Aim: To develop knowledge and skills needed to make the most of learning opportunities presented by an edible school garden throughout the year.
Who's it for? EYFS, primary and secondary teachers, teaching assistants and school leaders interested in improving their gardening skills and knowledge so they can work with young people on school gardening projects all year round.
Outcomes
Participants will:
- Consider opportunities presented by school food gardening for learning and celebrating across the curriculum and whole-school community involvement.
- Be familiar with basic techniques for growing a variety of fruit and vegetables suitable for school grounds – with a focus on winter gardening and keeping your garden productive all year round.
- Consider key points and practicalities in designing, planning and maintaining your garden ready for the next growing season.
- Share ideas, inspiration and some of the new and innovative techniques tried and tested at Eden.
