The following roles are examples of the types of internships you can expect at Eden. The Eden voluntary internship programme offers a range of structured roles, which provide genuine opportunities for anyone looking to enter the job market or change career path. We often accept interns on to the following teams, please note these are just examples at the moment and we aren't recruiting for any of the internships below right now - please don't send speculative applications in.
The Big Lunch, London
We are currently recruiting for voluntary interns to assist our London team on our UK-wide community campaign.The Big Lunch is the UK’s annual get-together for neighbours. Started in 2009, it has grown year on year and last year 7.3 million people participated across the UK. We also support people to create positive change where they live through community led projects and initiatives with our Big Lunch Extras programme.Interns will gain invaluable experience working on a UK wide community initiative. Specific responsibilities will include supporting our communications team in delivering content for our channels and helping our PR team to collect and maintain a database of case studies, images and contacts across the public sector and media. There will be opportunities to develop your research and writing skills and to publish on our channels. There will also be scope to focus on a specific project or piece of work should you develop a particular interest as the internship progresses.
Designer Maker Internship
To work within the Interpretation team on the design and delivery of temporary and permanent interpretive exhibits and set builds required by Eden team. To approach the design and build with creativity, narrative, robustness, budget, timescale and sustainability in mind ensuring it is fit for purpose.
Market Research Internship
Market Research Interns will be part of a team whose key responsibilities include conducting research into on site retail, hospitality, our in-ticket interactive activities & visitor profiling. You will also help with the production of questionnaires and all other research preparation from start to finish which includes data collection, data input, analysis & report writing. No experience necessary but a passion for communicating with people from all backgrounds, and an interest in capturing and presenting data would be an advantage.
Eden’s Sustainability Intern works with the organisation for a two- or three-month voluntary internship. The individual gets to work on everything from policies and strategies to events and social media.
Brand Marketing Intern
Eden’s Brand Marketing team is responsible for creating and implementing campaigns to drive visitors to the Eden Project. Interns will assist across all elements of the marketing mix, working closely with the Marketing Executive and Marketing Manager.
Eden’s Interpretation Team assist with research into specific briefed environmental, social, sustainable topics. We are looking for an intern to assist in the in depth research and writing of compelling stories and narrative to help Eden communicate messages to our visitors. You will communicate with artists, designers and a broad-based audience in order to write and edit factually correct, authentic final text copy
Eden’s Digital Team oversees Eden Project’s websites and social media channels, creating new and exciting content to engage the public in our brand. You’ll have a proven interest in writing and digital media and a passion for creating engaging online content.
Working within the Eden Digital Team helped me get a really good feel for working on commercial photography in a fast-paced environment.
Matt Ferris, photography intern
Do you have an interest in technical and operational efficiency, renewable opportunities and technological advances? The voluntary internship role includes research, reporting, assisting with feasibility studies, and communicating clearly both in writing and face to face.
Our Graphics team design and deliver our in-house graphics and sign making. You'll provide assistance to our Graphics Team in the design and delivery of in-house graphics and sign making.
Eden’s media relations team manages Eden’s communications with the media in all its forms, be it print, broadcast or online. You’ll be well-organised with a proven interest in writing engaging content and preferably some skill in photography and film-making.
