Intern profile: Becci
Becci was a Market Research intern at Eden, and went on to do an Eden apprenticeship in Market Research.
What attracted you to apply for an internship?
After finishing university I felt like I needed an insight into different areas of a business. While working in the Eden shop for the summer I saw there was a position as a Market Research intern – an area of work I was interested in, in a place that I knew I loved.
What were your main tasks?
I was a key part of the Market Research Team for the summer, helping monitor customer satisfaction amongst visitors. I learnt to create questionnaires, as well as carry out mini interviews with visitors onsite. I also did observations during seasonal events, checking how well visitor flow and way-finding was working, and taking photographs to evidence this.
What did you gain from the internship?
I definitely feel that working in a customer-facing role helped me become more confident in myself. I also picked up useful computing skills, particularly working with data, and learnt a lot about report writing. It also helped me understand what area of a business I really wanted to go into – and how I could get there.
What have you gone on to do afterwards?
After my internship finished I was taken on as an apprentice within the team, where I got more in-depth experience of working as a researcher in the tourism industry.
