Anna specialises in rope, hula hoops and aerial spiral. She began her performance career in 2001 after graduating with a degree in Contemporary Circus and Theatre Studies from Circus Space in London. She toured with NoFit State Circus for three years in the internationally acclaimed performance Immortal, directed by Firenza Guidi.

Anna is also an experienced freelance trainer and has taught at the National Institute of Circus Arts in Melbourne, Australia. She also regularly teaches rope, trapeze and hula hoop at the NoFit State Circus training space in Cardiff.

Circus performer hanging in ringShe is in the current Nofit State Circus show Mundo Paralelo, directed by Mladen Materic (Tattoo Theatre, France). Anna is a co-founder of the Mary Bijou Cabaret, and is currently directing an ensemble show with her company Crashmat Collective.

Q and A

What is your proudest achievement?
Finding a meaningful career for myself, constantly finding new inspiration and not forgetting to be grateful for it.

What do you enjoy most about performing?
I love the lifestyle of being a circus performer, the constant movement, the training, and I am happiest when I feel the audience is touched emotionally or inspired to think or feel.

What is your greatest fear?
Losing loved ones. Terminal illness.

What was your most memorable performance?
I was really happy to tour with NoFit State Circus's show Immortal from the
beginning. I felt proud to watch it grow and to have contributed to it becoming
quite successful.

Who do you most admire?
People with integrity, truth, compassion, who have the bravery to think for
themselves, be tolerant towards others and are able to forgive. Inspired artists.
Noam Chomsky, Tom Waits, and who doesn't admire the Dalai Lama?

What are you looking forward to about performing at Eden?
When I was at Circus school 10 years ago I dreamed of doing a site-specific
project at Eden: I feel like it's come full circle. I look forward to the beauty
of the place and the fun we'll have there.
