Botanical illustration course

This three-day ‘introduction to botanical drawing and illustration’ course, set in the rich surroundings of Eden’s gardens, guides beginners and improvers through the basics of creating beautiful botanical pencil drawings. Join our horticulture team and specialist painting group the Eden Florilegium in a weekend of botanical illustration at the Eden Project.
More about the course
Day one will be led by our skilled horticulturalists, to help you develop a basic botanical understanding of the plant kingdom. There will be an emphasis on walking around the Eden site to examine specific plants and understand their specific structures and functions – all invaluable knowledge when you come to closely study and draw plant specimens.
On days two and three, experienced botanical painting tutors Mally Francis and Ros Franklin will help you develop your skills as a botanical artist, focusing on pencil drawings and illustrations, with the theme of fruits and harvest.
Who the botanical course is for
The course is suitable for complete beginners and improvers, and costs £180 per person for the weekend. This includes:
- Three days of expert tuition on botanical drawing, in a maximum group of 16.
- A picnic lunch and refreshments on each day.
- Entry to the Eden Project for Friday 15 March – Sunday 17 March 2013.
