A Taste of Mud
Mud between your Toes helps children and young people to re-connect to the world they live in - to experience, understand and celebrate their sense of place and purpose in the natural world and in their communities.
Mud at Eden… dens, water, play
During the summer, Eden’s arena becomes a haven of play. Over 100,000 people have built dens at Eden. Den building helps children develop skills and interests that can shape their entire lives. Collaborative play teaches us about inquiry, socialising and making friends, working as a team, and how to design and build things. Den building encourages fledgling engineers, construction teams, scientists and artists, the people who can imagine a better world and then help to create it.
Wild Day Out
A family adventure of quests, challenges, storytelling and creativity in the secret, wild edges of Eden. Led by our Mud team, these sessions offer a rare opportunity for families to have a shared playful experience. By working with everyday things that most people can find in their sheds, kitchens and cupboards we hope that children and their parents will be inspired and confident to get out more for wild play at home.
Wild Days Out run during the summer months. Watch this space for their return in summer 2012.
Changing the State of Play
Funded by the Big Lottery Fund, the Eden Project was given the chance to work with communities across Cornwall to delve into the issues and inspire new ideas for nature-based and free play. The physical results can be seen at Eden Project, in communities and in the lives of countless children and adults across Cornwall.
Survive and Thrive
This four day programme offered a powerful mix of outdoor pursuits, wilderness immersion and environmental understanding for teenagers as they considered their well being from a personal, local and global perspective. Team working skills, leadership qualities, communication, self esteem and confidence were strengthened, while young people considered their place in society and the global environment.
This programme has come to an end, but if you are interested in talking about future possibilities please contact us to find out more
Tribe called Eden
On their quest to become members of the ‘Eden Tribe’, primary school children find out how the world works, how they are connected to nature, and how all humans depend on it. This two day challenge uses storytelling and creativity to explore the Eden Project’s Rainforest Biome and a local Cornish woodland.
Forest School
Forest School allows us to work with a group of children in beautiful, local woodland over an extended period of time. A blend of exploration, discovery, team work, practical challenges, creativity, games and free play builds skills, confidence and self esteem. Evidence also shows that this approach also enhances learning back in the classroom.
Teacher Training and staff development
Eden's growing programme of courses offers the chance to share ideas and discuss approaches to learning outside the classroom. We have a range of opportunities to explore how to develop and use school grounds and other outside places for learning and play.
Muddy Shorts
These free days out around Cornwall support disabled children in accessing natural environments for play. The sorts of activities we provide include den building, go kart building, water play, cooking various foods over fires, arts and crafts and hanging adventurous equipment from trees and buildings.
The project is funded by Cornwall Council and is delivered in partnership with Barnardo's.

Eden is a charity and we need help to fund our work. Making a donation will enable more children and young people to take part in our Mud between your Toes programme.
