Fifty metres high above a hot, steamy jungle, a yoga group strikes the tree pose.

This is the first-ever hot yoga class in the lofty reaches of the Rainforest Biome at the Eden Project in Cornwall, the world’s biggest rainforest in captivity.

Eleven yoga enthusiasts were put through their poses by instructor Dan Parnwell from Truro in Cornwall.

The session was a trial run for Eden’s first-ever Wellbeing Day on Sunday March 22 when visitors will be able to try out hot yoga on the platform for themselves, as well as a range of other feel-good activities.

Some of the South West’s best teachers will offer a range of yoga, pilates and meditation classes and other therapies throughout what promises to be a peaceful and relaxing day.

Breathe Yoga from Truro are leading the hot yoga classes in the Rainforest Biome. Sessions will take place on the Canopy Walkway and the Rainforest Lookout – the highest and hottest spot in the Biome.

Sessions for these classes are at 10 am, 12pm and 2pm – and participants are asked to bring their own towel and mat.

Throughout the day visitors will have the chance to join different classes and therapies in the Mediterranean Biome. The programme there starts at 7.30 am with Sunrise yoga in the calming Citrus Grove area and ends at 5.30 pm.

The Core building will offer some free taster sessions during the day. All visitors need is a valid Eden admission ticket to attend these drop-in sessions of various classes and therapies which will take place in the Core classrooms.

Kate Francis, Eden’s Programme Producer, said: “We’re really excited to be hosting our first Wellbeing Day at the Eden Project.

“There is a fabulous range of classes and therapies on offer and this is a wonderful chance for people to try something new. We think hot yoga high up on the Canopy Walkway or even higher and hotter on the Rainforest Lookout will be an experience never to be forgotten.”

Numbers are limited for the various Biome classes so pre-booking is necessary. The prices for the wellbeing courses in the Biomes are - one session £12, two sessions £20, and three sessions £28. Taster sessions in the Core are on a first come first served basis.
