The Eden Project’s Mediterranean Biome will be alive with the sound of music as the Cornwall International Male Voice Choral Festival visits on Sunday May 3 and Monday 4.

The Cornwall International Male Voice Choral Festival takes place every two years at venues across the county. Eden has been a host ever since it started in 2003.

This year’s festival takes place from April 29 – May 4. There will be 70 choirs from 15 different countries participating in 57 events, including 29 concerts and 12 tourist attractions across Cornwall.

Eden will be hosting 20 choirs, from as far afield as the USA, Russia and Canada.

One of the choirs that will be singing at Eden is the Kidderminster Male Voice Choir, which dates back more than a century. Formed in 1904, they have performed in such venues as the Royal Albert Hall, London and the Millennium Stadium. Their 100th birthday was celebrated with a sensational sell out concert at Birmingham’s prestigious Symphony Hall.

The choir is a charitable organisation. They run concerts to improve fundraising for selected charities each year and raised money for the British Heart Foundation via a CD in 2011.

Kate Francis, Eden’s Programme Producer, said: “We are very excited to be welcoming the Cornish International Male Voice Choral Festival back in the lovely surroundings of our Mediterranean biome.

“It’s great that Eden has been a host for the festival for so long and we are proud to be part of this Cornish event. We hope that our visitors enjoy the range of male voice choirs that the festival has to offer.”
