BBC Music Day Ambassadors and musical legends Duran Duran will be joined by critically-acclaimed singer songwriter Laura Mvula when they headline the finale of BBC Music Day at the Eden Project on June 3.

The concert will go out live on BBC Radio 2, as part of a four-hour show presented by Sara Cox, with the iconic Biomes providing the backdrop to the spectacular outdoor stage.

BBC One’s The One Show will be coming live from the Eden Project in the build up to the concert.

Laura Mvula, who hails from Birmingham, is one of the most exciting new musical talents to come out of the UK.

Classically trained, with a degree in composition from the Birmingham Conservatoire, Laura was catapulted into the limelight in 2013 following the release of her top ten debut album Sing to the Moon, which she wrote while working as a receptionist at the City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra.

Her second studio album, The Dreaming Room, is due to be released on June 17.

She won two MOBO Awards in 2013 and has been nominated for BRIT Awards, The Mercury Music Prize and Ivor Novello Awards.

Laura said: “I’m really looking forward to performing in the beautiful Eden Project with my band as part of BBC Music Day. BBC Music continues to find exciting and innovative ways to bring music to people all over the world and it’s great to be a part of that, especially alongside Duran Duran!”

Tickets cost £50 plus £7.50 booking fee and are available online through www.edenproject.com/bbc-music-day. Duran Duran live at Eden with BBC Music Day will start from 6pm on Friday June 3. Tickets allow entry to the Eden Project on the day of the event and the day after (Saturday 4 June).

BBC Music Day is returning for its second year, celebrating all types of music from around the UK and the Channel Islands. Bringing live music to people through an exciting range of events around the theme of collaboration, it aims to unite communities across different generations. BBC Music Day will feature broadcasts across BBC TV, Radio and digital services from 6am to midnight.

The Eden Project is an educational charity and visitor destination in Cornwall. Here, massive Biomes housing the largest rainforest in captivity, stunning plants, exhibitions and stories serve as a backdrop to striking contemporary gardens, summer concerts and exciting year-round family events.
