The Eden Project is launching a new exhibit themed around the exciting world of electric cars this summer.

Eden has partnered with Renault to create the new installation, which features an interactive display, as well as a real Renault Twizy, based in the Core education centre next to the famous Eden Biomes in Cornwall.

The interactive exhibit takes visitors through the process of building an electric car, giving them an insight into the engineering behind this exciting new technology.

They are able to find out about the car’s battery, how it harvests energy from the brakes, the electric motor, the reducer (which acts like a gearbox) and the steering wheel.

The exhibit will also educate visitors about the range that can be achieved by modern electric vehicles.

Rita Broe, Eden's marketing director, said: "We’re delighted to showcase electric vehicle technology with our partner Renault, who are pioneers in this market. Eden loves electric cars as they emit no emissions while driving and help us all to tread more lightly on the planet. We hope our thousands of summer visitors enjoy trying out the Renault ZOE and Twizy exhibits!".

The new exhibit is the latest in a series of collaborations between Eden and Renault.

Following successful trials of Renault’s range of all-electric cars and vans that epitomise the brand’s commitment to the environment, Eden welcomed 18 Renault electric vehicles to its inspiring, Cornwall-based attraction in June this year.

At the forefront of electric vehicle technology for several years and with the ambition to provide everyone with access to affordable, sustainable motoring, Renault is the perfect automotive partner for the Eden Project. The arrival of the environmentally-compatible Renaults is particularly timely as Eden is wishing to place a greater emphasis on informing and educating its visitors about the benefits of electric vehicles in reducing carbon emissions.

To be used by its team throughout the site and also further afield in the promotion of the ever-popular tourist attraction and educational charity, Eden’s vehicles span the full spectrum of the Renault Z.E range and encompass the Twizy quadricycle, ZOE supermini and Kangoo Z.E in both Panel Van and Maxi Crew Cab body styles.

The exhibit in the Core is due to run until September 4. Entry is included in the standard Eden admission price. For more information, see www.edenproject.com.
