Three-time winner of the Eden Marathon, Isobel Wykes, models Eden’s new technical T-shirt
Isobel Wykes, the fastest woman in the Eden Project’s Marathon for three years running, has been given a preview of Eden’s new technical t-shirt.
For the first time, Eden will be offering the distinctive new technical t-shirts to all runners who complete the Eden Marathon or Half-Marathon. Different from the previous year’s t-shirts, they will be more practical for runners and help make them more visible.
Isobel is a teacher from Probus near Truro who runs with the Mud Crew Trail Runners and had previously been modest about her chances of winning in 2015, but was pleasantly surprised by her performance.
Last year she smashed her previous Eden Marathon time, set in 2013, by nearly six minutes when she won with a time of three hours, 18 minutes and 46 seconds.
Isobel, said: “Eden’s new technical t-shirts are fantastic! They are really comfortable and a fab colour to run in, especially in the winter months as it will make it easier to be seen. People will make no mistake in seeing that you have competed in the Eden Marathon.”
Last year’s Marathon and Half-Marathon saw nearly 1,200 entries and was run in sunny, warm conditions. Runners came from all over the world to compete over the scenic and challenging route through the dramatic “clay country” landscape before finishing in the shadow of the iconic Biomes.
Since the inception of the event, Eden has run the races in partnership with St. Austell Running Club.
Tracey Smith, Eden’s Commercial Manager, said: “We are really excited to be able to provide our runners with technical t-shirts this year. They are a much more appropriate item of clothing to run in and will be able to be reused for training purposes. We hope that this year’s runners enjoy them as much as we do.”
The Eden Marathon and Half Marathon will return on Sunday October 16, taking a unique route through areas of spectacular mining heritage and beautiful countryside landscapes.
Registration is now open and entry fees are as follows. Marathon entry costs £30 for affiliated runners and £32 for unaffiliated runners. Half-Marathon entry costs £25 for affiliated runners and £27 for unaffiliated runners. Runners must be aged at least 18 for the Marathon and 17 for the Half-Marathon. Entries close on October 1 or when entry levels are reached.
The race entry fee includes a themed medal, technical t-shirt, a pasty, free entry to Eden for all runners and accompanying family members and supporters on October 16 and much more.
To comply with the new UKA regulations we do not permit the wearing of headphones or similar devices (other than those medically prescribed) in the Eden Marathon and Half Marathon.
