It’s the final weekend of the Eden Project’s spectacular Journey into Space programme and some surprises await visitors on their last blast into orbit on September 2–3.

A supersize Eden astronaut who has been touring Cornwall over the summer is set to make a special appearance by the Biomes on Saturday and Sunday. Prizes will be given out for the best pictures taken of the giant space traveller.

There is a chance to go on an amazing Mission to Mars with Maddie Moate, children’s presenter of Cbeebies Do You Know? and YouTuber, who is doing two shows a day this weekend featuring rockets, robotics and the smells of space. Part of the Meet the Experts programme, Maddie’s talks are included in admission and are first come first served.

It will also be the final chance to see Eden’s extra-terrestrial visitor this weekend and everyone can have fun coming up with ideas of how to bid an alien good bye.

To get a taster of floating in space try the amazing Virtual Reality Experience We Are Stars before it ends next week. Usually £7 per person, this weekend visitors can get two tickets for the price of one (available in person on site only).

There is also just enough time to take an incredible journey through the Solar System, train at the Astronaut Academy and see a Renault space exhibition on electric cars.

For refreshment there is a galaxy of cosmic-themed food including lunch at the Solar Grill, Space Freak Shakes and Ice Creams.

And the Eden shop will be putting on some final weekend offers on the popular Space merchandise range.

Chris Pritchard, Eden’s programme producer, said: “Whether you’ve already explored Space this summer or not  – come and see us as we’ve got some extra special space surprises exclusively lined up for this weekend only.

“Come along for a great day out with the children before they head back to school.”

The astronaut appearance is subject to weather conditions.
