Kasabian and The Hours: Saturday July 4
Statement regarding bars
“We are really sorry that people had to queue for far too long for drinks at the Kasabian Session on Saturday night. We pride ourselves on getting all aspects of the Sessions experience right and this time we let you and ourselves down. Lessons have been learned and we are doing everything we can to get the bar set-up right in time for Thursday’s Razorlight Session, Friday’s with Paul Weller, Oasis (July 14) and The Kooks (July 18). Sincere apologies once again - we hope that it didn’t spoil people’s experience of what turned out to be a fantastic show.”
Peter Hampel, Creative Director.
Gig Review
With a sell-out crowd eagerly anticipating the return of Eden's iconic summer gigs, indie soldiers The Hours stepped out under a sky that threatened but never delivered rain and took their place in history as the first band to play the 2009 Eden Sessions. Playing tracks from Narcissus Road and this spring's See The Light, their unique brand of piano-led indie-pop was the perfect curtain-raiser for the summer.
Kasabian, fresh from the release of West Ryder Pauper Lunatic Asylum and a brilliant show at Glastonbury, hit the Eden stage on top of their game. WRPLA, their third studio album, was a critically lauded UK number one and carries all the swaggering hallmarks of a band who know they're up there with the best.
Tom, Serge and co. strode on stage like a proper rock band - skinny jeans, hair over their ears, guitars locked and loaded - and launched into a punishing set. Few have rocked the Biomes harder and the crowd, mesmerised by Tom's cocksure Ian Brown-esque frontman presence, were treated to anthem after anthem - Fire, Shoot the Runner, Club Foot, et al - all accompanied by a typically spectacular Eden lightshow.
The effect was one of being assaulted by music, in the best possible way.
Talking of which... we're doing it all again on Thursday and Friday (phew!). Razorlight and The Maccabees will play on Thursday and then, once we've all had a sleep, Paul Weller and Florence and the Machine, playing in support of the Prince’s Rainforests Project in association with EDF Energy to mark the first Green Britain Day , round the week off in style on Friday.
And the best news? There's still a few tickets available.
And if you're at any of the Sessions, join the Twitter fun for your chance to win tickets to future Sessions.
