Friday 6 July 2012

Urban superstar Plan B will perform his stunning stage show with soulful hits from his number one album, The Defamation of Strickland Banks, at Eden next summer.

The acclaimed rapper, singer-songwriter and actor has sold more than a million copies of the album since its release in 2010.The associated tour has wowed audiences from Sydney to LA with notable stops at Glastonbury, V Festival, the O2 Arena and Hyde Park. Next July Plan B will bring his renowned show to Eden’s iconic Biomes at the Eden Sessions.

The Strickland Banks record spawned She Said, the artist’s most successful single to date, as well as Stay Too Long and Prayin’. The album tells the story of Plan B’s alter-ego, Strickland Banks, a British soul singer who hits the big time with album opener Love Goes Down before being wrongly imprisoned.

Plan B’s soon-to-be-released third studio album, The Ballad of Belmarsh, sees him return to his hip-hop roots of his 2006 debut Who Needs Actions When You’ve Got Words. A companion piece to the new release will explore the Strickland Banks story in more detail. There are also plans for a musical film telling the story of Strickland Banks, to be directed by Plan B himself.

Plan B scooped a slew of awards in 2011, winning in the British Male Solo Artist category of the BRIT Awards and bagging three Ivor Novellos. He is also an accomplished actor, and appears in 2008's Adulthood and alongside Michael Caine in 2009’s Harry Brown.
