Alfalfa Seeds

These Alfalfa seeds are super quick to grow their highly nutritious shoots and will be ready to eat in just 1 week, how many foods can say that?

Alfalfa is a flowering plant originating from the pea family - the shoots have a pea-like taste. Believe it or not Alfalfa is the most cultivated forage legume in the world!

Alfalfa is high in protein, calcium and the following vitamins: C, D, E, K and the B group vitamins. Perfect in salads and in sandwiches and so easy to grow, they are best eaten raw to avoid losing their nutrients during cooking.

Alfalfa Seeds

Gardens for Life at the Eden Project supports children, young people, teachers, families and communities worldwide to garden and grow crops. Practical activities and IT communication are creating a global community who understand more about the major issues concerning food which we all face today - food security and health, climate change and water, cultures, indigenous knowledge, cooking, medicine, outdoor learning, participation, global citizenship, youth empowerment and inclusion. Around the world children are gardening, learning and sharing

  • Where does our food come from?
  • Do people in my town eat the same things as other people in the world?
  • Could we grow the food they eat here?
  • How does a seed become a vegetable?
  • How do plants grow in such small places?
  • How do we build a garden to add nutrition to our diet?

Thanks to Gardens for Life, children are getting answers to these questions.

Where your money goes

The Eden Project is an educational charity and social enterprise and when you buy anything from our shop, you're supporting our work and educational programmes.

We’ve been collaborating with the people of Seychelles, who are on the frontline of climate change. We've worked on forest restoration and public education and have even helped fund research into how to safeguard the spectacular native Coco de Mer, which produces the largest seed in the world.

Find out what we've achieved in the Seychelles.
