Aristolochia Elegans (Dutchman's Pipe)

Aristolochia Elegans is native to the rainforests of Brazil. In the UK the dutchmans pipe is an indoor climber with very distinct shaped leaves. They are said to resemble Sherlock Holme's pipe, hence its common name!

The Dutch pipe vine is pollinated by flies, which are attracted to the distinct flowers by their strong smell. The flowers are nearly shaped like a heart and are one single petal. They are greenish in colour but are speckled all over in maroon.
