German Salad Radish Seeds

German salad radishes make a tasty, colourful addition to salads. They can be grown indoors or out, mature very quickly and make a good 'catch crop' in bare ground destined for plants such as courgettes and sweetcorn that are planted out later.

The German salad radish is longer that the more traditional radishes but with just as much flavour. With their fast germination, radishes are one of the quickest crops to grow.

Gardens for Life

Gardens for Life at the Eden Project supports children, young people, teachers, families and communities worldwide to garden and grow crops. Practical activities and IT communication are creating a global community who understand more about the major issues concerning food which we all face today - food security and health, climate change and water, cultures, indigenous knowledge, cooking, medicine, outdoor learning, participation, global citizenship, youth empowerment and inclusion. Around the world children are gardening, learning and sharing

  • Where does our food come from?
  • Do people in my town eat the same things as other people in the world?
  • Could we grow the food they eat here?
  • How does a seed become a vegetable?
  • How do plants grow in such small places?
  • How do we build a garden to add nutrition to our diet?

Thanks to Gardens for Life, children are getting answers to these questions.

How this gift helps

The Eden Project is an educational charity and social enterprise and when you buy anything from our shop, you're supporting our work and educational programmes.

As well as offering our visitors to Eden a memorable, educational day out, we also use our expertise to work with local organisations across the world.

In Thailand, we have been working with local organisation FORRU on reforestation projects to restore large areas of degraded tropical forest. Over 65,000 trees have been planted and community training and learning has been shared across the country building up a network of local knowledge on how to protect rainforests and conserve natural resources..
