Our Wassail, with its warm spiced flavour, will definitely get you in the festive spirit this Christmas.

It’s a blend of cider and apple juice infused with fresh oranges and hand-blended spices. Wassail should be served warm to bring out its rich, aromatic flavours.

There are two distinct traditions that Wassailing falls into: The House-Visiting Wassail and the Orchard-Visiting wassail. Like carolling, House-Visiting Wassail is people going door-to-door singing Christmas Carols. Orchard-Visiting Wassail is the practice of singing to the trees in the apple orchards. It’s believed this promotes a good harvest for the coming year.

By singing, it’s thought to awaken the cider apple trees and to scare away any evil spirits. Each ceremony has a King & Queen who lead the procession and songs. The Wassail queen is lifted into the trees, where she places toast soaked in Wassail into the boughs as a gift to the tree spirits.

INGREDIENTS:
Wassail – Cornish cider 65%, apple juice 25% (vitamin C), sugar, spice and citrus infusion 10% (orange zest, cinnamon, cloves, ginger, all spice and star anise)
