Eden Friends events diary

Our Friend's events programme is always packed with unique activities, tours and talks from a wide range of people, from Eden and beyond.

These regular membership events are specially designed for Eden Friends, offering a programme of talks, tours and demonstrations that focus on everything from gardening to the environment to good food.

Past events have included a talk from Alan Titchmarsh, a demonstration from ethnobotanist James Wong, guided tours of our Mediterranean and Rainforest Biomes with our expert horticulturalists, and even a trip abroad to the real rainforest.

Exotic Gardening with Anne Swithinbank

Join regular Gardener's World and Gardeners' Qestions Time presenter and guest Anne Swithinbank for a talk on indoor gardening, ornamentals, edibles and starting plants off.

 

Botanical and Horticultural discovery in the Cape floristic kingdom

The Mediterranean Garden Tour

Join Eden Skilled Horticulturist Shirley Walker as she takes you on a tour of the Mediterranean Biome where she will also cover how to grow Mediterranean plants at home (herbs, olives, palms, citrus, vines, shrubs....)

 

The Outdoor Biome Tour

Allotments and Grow-your-own

Global Gardens in the Outdoor Biome, meet at the Global Gardens Shed

Cost:Free

Join Eden Crops Horticulturist, Duana Pearson as she guides you through this part of the outdoor Biome and gives advice on how to plan out your garden to grw produce and          grow -your-own veg.

 

A Botanical Tour of the Barbara Hepworth Sculpture Garden

Join author and gardener Miranda Phillips for a tour around Barbara Hepworth’s garden. Miranda will be introducing and exploring the plants and their culture.

Introduction to Botanical Illustration Course with the Eden Project Florilegium Society

Date: Friday 3rd October- Sunday 5th October
Time & Place: 10.00am-5.00pm each day

Cost :£180.00pp

Join Eden Horticulturalists and Florilegium Society Tutors for a weekend of botanical drawing at the Eden Project. Our experienced horticulturalists will guide you through the basics of botanical identification and understanding, using the Eden site as inspiration.

Tutors Mally Francis, founder member of the Eden Florilegium, and Ros Franklin, current Cahir of the Eden Florilegium will guide beginners and improvers alike in creating beautiful botanical illustrations.

The weekendincludes three days of expert tuition, a picnic lunch and refreshments on each day. The maximum group size will be 16 artists.

Introduction to Botanical Painting Course with the Eden Project Florilegium Society

Date:  Friday 7th  November- Sunday 9th  November
Time & Place: 10.00 am to 5.00pm each day.

NEW for 2014 – Join us on this follow on course where Tutors Mally Francis, founder member of the Eden Florilegium, and Ros Franklin, current Chair of the Eden Florilegium will guide beginners and improvers alike in creating beautiful colour botanical paintings in watercolour.
This course is recommended as a follow on course to those who have already completed the Introduction to Botanical Illustration Course, or to those who have some previous experience in botanical illustration or painting already.
The weekend includes three days of expert tuition, a picnic lunch and refreshments on each day and entrance to the Eden Project. The maximum group size will be 16 artists.
