A Botanical Tour of the Barbara Hepworth Sculpture Garden

Date: Tuesday 12th AugustTime & Place : 10.00am  Barbara Hepworth Sculpture Garden, St Ives

Cost:£5 per person, booked through Tate St Ives

Join author and gardener Miranda Phillips for a tour around Barbara Hepworth’s garden. Miranda will be introducing and exploring the plants and their culture.

Historical Tour of the Lost Gardens of Heligan

Date: Thursday 28th AugustTime & Place : 2.30pmThe Lost Gardens of Heligan

Cost: £10 per person, including entry to the Lost Gardens of Heligan

 

Join Heligan Estate Manager Jim Briggs on a guided tour of the Lost Gardens of Heligan, looking at how the Home Farm might have been run 100 years ago, what period demonstrations have taken place and how the living stage was prepared for the Heligan/Wildworks ‘100: The Day the World Changed event’.

The tour includes entry to the Lost Gardens of Heligan. Numbers are limited so please book early to avoid disappointment.

 

 

Early morning tour of Eden’s Rainforest Biome

Date: Thursday 4th September

Time & Place :  8.30am

Join Hetty Ninnis, Eden’s Rainforest Biome Supervisor, on a special early morning tour of the Rainforest Biome. With exclusive access to the Biome before it is open to the public, Hetty and her team will show you round the highlights of the Biome telling you about all of their latest horticultural works and exciting new plans and developments as well as plant highlights for the time of the year. Even if you’ve been to the Rainforest Biome numerous times before you are sure to learn something new during this exclusive behind the scenes tour. Includes coffee in the bakery after the tour.

 

How to manage 1.4 million ants? With Mark Mappley

Did you know that as we write there are at least 1.4 million white footed ants in the Rainforest Biome at Eden? Want to find out more about these fascinating ants and the other creatures who make Eden home? Marc will be talking about his role as Eden’s Public Health Pest Control Officer, talking about monitoring, prevention and control within a large visitor attraction with plenty of interesting and unusual stories throughout his time here.

 

Introduction to Botanical Illustration Course with the Eden Project Florilegium Society

Date: Friday 3rd October- Sunday 5th October
Time & Place: 10.00am-5.00pm each day

Cost :£180.00pp

Join Eden Horticulturalists and Florilegium Society Tutors for a weekend of botanical drawing at the Eden Project. Our experienced horticulturalists will guide you through the basics of botanical identification and understanding, using the Eden site as inspiration.

Tutors Mally Francis, founder member of the Eden Florilegium, and Ros Franklin, current Cahir of the Eden Florilegium will guide beginners and improvers alike in creating beautiful botanical illustrations.

The weekendincludes three days of expert tuition, a picnic lunch and refreshments on each day. The maximum group size will be 16 artists.

Introduction to Botanical Painting Course with the Eden Project Florilegium Society

NEW for 2014 – Join us on this follow on course where Tutors Mally Francis, founder member of the Eden Florilegium, and Ros Franklin, current Chair of the Eden Florilegium will guide beginners and improvers alike in creating beautiful colour botanical paintings in watercolour.
This course is recommended as a follow on course to those who have already completed the Introduction to Botanical Illustration Course, or to those who have some previous experience in botanical illustration or painting already.
The weekend includes three days of expert tuition, a picnic lunch and refreshments on each day and entrance to the Eden Project. The maximum group size will be 16 artists.
