The Titan, real name Amorphophallus titanum, currently stands at 1.5 metres tall (around 4ft 11) and is growing at a rate of 9cm (three and a half inches) a day.
It has now flowered and the magnificent display will last about 48 hours. It will also emit a foul stench which has given the Titan its other name of “corpse flower”.
In its natural habitat, the tropical rainforests of Sumatra, Indonesia, the Titan uses the smell to attract pollinators. It then grows fruit and birds feed off it.
