Policies

The below documents are the policies, standards and positions which we use to guide us and implement our commitments. These are continuously reviewed, and more are being added on an ongoing basis.

 

Energy policy

It is very important that Eden strives to achieve beyond best practice in terms of energy consumption and generation. We want it to continue to be part of our culture and help define what we stand for. With this in mind we launched an internal communications campaign to highlight our energy policy above. Our work on energy is not just restricted to big ticket items like geothermal power stations, wind turbines or solar cells, we have to have a real focus on operational and technical energy efficiency. As such one of the main strands of the energy policy is Every One, Every Watt. That means getting every one at Eden involved in energy saving (both at home and at work), and Eden looking at every watt of power, from heating the biomes right down to monitors being left on standby.

Our internal communications campaign

We are going to provide education and training to all staff to help reduce the cost and environmental impact of energy use both at home and at Eden and this will begin shortly, but in the meantime the communications campaign featuring the video below was launched in September 2009 to encourage employees to do their bit to reduce consumption. To practice what we preach and go beyond the norm we must all act together to make a difference.
