Eden’s climate change arts programme
The Eden Project is hosting an exciting programme of events and art installations that help to communicate, on a human scale, the changes in climate we are experiencing today.
We produce these unique visitor experiences with Cape Farewell, a creative project that brings artists, scientists and communicators together to engage people in the subject of climate change.
Come, explore, be inspired
Since 2003 Cape Farewell has led expeditions to the Arctic, the Andes and the Amazon, inviting artists to come, explore and be inspired. Artists have taken part in scientific research, learning about the effects of human behaviour on these fragile environments. In 2011 Cape Farewell brings the experience of the expedition home, with an exploration of ecologies and cultures across the Scottish Isles.
Artists return from Cape Farewell expeditions with a strong urge to respond to the challenges of climate change. Their stories, images and installations have communicated in powerful ways the impacts of our behaviour on our environment. Cape Farewell is resident at Southbank Centre and with partners such as Eden, the British Council and the Royal Academy produces and presents work nationally and internationally.
Eden has been working with Cape Farewell since 2007, commissioning and presenting work that not only draws on the artists’ expedition experiences but on their experience of the Eden site and its unique story of regeneration.
This year we are also collaborating with the Open University and Ashden Trust, the University of Sheffield, the University College of Falmouth and Newlyn Art Gallery.
