Barefoot Games youth volunteering

Our one-year Barefoot Games offered people aged 16–25 in Cornwall exciting volunteering opportunities and projects on-site at Eden and across the county.

It aimed to reconnect these people with their natural environment through interactive events including sports, using the 2012 Olympic Games as inspiration.

Volunteer stories

  • Our Wild Days Out offered volunteers and local young people the chance to reconnect with nature through outdoor survival experiences, den building, and arts and crafts activities.
  • As part of the St Austell Carnival:
    • the local dance collective Flava performed and offered dance workshops in the centre of the town
    • Barefoot Games volunteers parked Eden’s Big Green Bus in the town centre, decorated the top deck as a spooky bat cave and offered wand making workshops to local kids.
  • At one of Eden’s regular Arts Cafe nights, our volunteers ran a clay modelling workshop, which proved very popular with the people attending the event.
