Sustainable tourism in the Clay Country
Eden is supporting the development of activities and ideas to increase the number of people visting the China Clay country, a former mining area rich in heritage, culture and extraordinary landscapes
The Eden Project, which sits at the heart of this unique region, is working with the China Clay Local Action Group, to develop projects that use the area's natural, heritage, tourism and community resources to create a more appealing visitor experience and improve linkages with local businesses.
This will include increasing the interpretation and promotion of the range of activities the area has to offer, including the currently underused asset of the Clay Trails. They offer huge potential for outdoor activities, including walking, cycling and horse riding.
By confidently promoting them to the public we hope to help to increase the number of people visiting the Clays and therefore improve the economic returns to local businesses.
