A Garden for Eden
ITV offered West Country gardeners the opportunity of a lifetime: to design and build a new eco-friendly front garden here at Eden in a new competitive gardening series for the ITV West and West Country regions.
Two finalists won through two tough rounds to then take part in a final challenge, another intense three-day build (30 June, 1 & 2 July), this time creating a beautiful front garden at the Eden Project with the brief of making a positive, inspirational contribution to the community and the environment. Each front garden also had to accommodate a small car, showing that the space can be practical and imaginative.
The cars are also examples of imaginative eco design.
As one of Europe’s leading compact car manufacturers, Fiat are respectful of their surroundings. JATO, world leader for consultancy and research in the automotive industry, has declared Fiat the manufacturer with the lowest volume-weighted average C02 emissions (137.3g/km) amongst all its major competitors.
We will be featuring the Fiat 500 1.3 MultiJet in our garden which emits just 110g/km of CO2. For more information on this car of any of Fiat’s eco-efficient vehicles, visit www.fiat.co.uk.
As one of the world's most environmentally-friendly vehicle manufacturers, through its 'eco²' programme, Renault offers 37 cars in its range which emit 120 g/km of CO2 or less.
Proving that environmentally-friendly cars can be chic, stylish, practical and affordable, in our garden we will be displaying a three-door supermini, Clio dCi 86, offering an impressive 64.2 mpg and just 117 g/km of CO2.

Both the finalist Gardens and the cars are now on display at Eden.
Presented by Melinda Messenger, the series will also feature Eden’s Tim Smit, TV newcomer Scott Evans from Big Grass Nursery in Devon and Chelsea award-winning garden designer Richard Sneesby. Watch out for the series on ITV from September this year.
