• Gain an understanding of the principles and practices of seed propagation
• Carry out seed propagation of a range of plant species within containers
• Carry out seed bed preparation and seed sowing outdoors

THe course will cover:
• Advantages and disadvantages of seed propagation
• Seed collection, cleaning and storage
• Seed dormancy, viability, treatments and germination requirements
• Types of containers and seed sowing media
• Preparation of an outdoor seedbed
• Different methods of seed sowing (both broadcast and spaced)

Key Practical Activities:
• Carry out seed bed preparation in the field (i.e. soil)
• Carry out the sowing of seeds (by both space sowing and broadcast methods), in both seed trays and in the soil beds
