The Eden Project sits at the heart of this unique region – so it made sense for us to work with the China Clay Local Action Group to develop projects that use the area's natural, heritage, tourism and community resources to create a more appealing visitor experience and improve linkages with local businesses.

The project saw all sorts of events take place, including Cycle Sunday, a fun, free, cycling adventure along the Clay Trails for the whole family, and an outdoor theatre production of ‘Don Quixote by Bicycle’ along the Clay Trails.

We also developed the Clay Trails website to showcase the area’s walking, cycling and horseriding routes.

Today, the Clay Trails Partnership is now constituted, a strong, dedicated community group made up of passionate people who are safeguarding the future of the Clay Trails.

The project was funded by the 'European Agricultural Fund for European Development 2007 – 2013: Europe investing in rural areas’ and delivered through the Local Action for Rural Communities Programme by the Clay Country Local Action Group, with Defra as the managing agency.
