The Eden Project in Cornwall has been nominated for a prestigious travel award in which the public decides which attraction wins.

Eden is one of 14 destinations which have been short-listed in the category of Best UK Day Out Experience by the British Travel Awards 2010.

Industry professionals and a selection of last year’s voters decided the nominations and now it’s the public’s turn to determine the winner which will be announced at a ceremony in London in November.

People have until September 30 to vote for the Best UK Day Out Experience and other categories. All voters will be entered into a draw to win a variety of holiday prizes. To vote, go to: http://www.britishtravelawards.com/vf_rl.php.

The British Travel Awards are deemed the Oscars of the holiday industry being the largest of their kind in the nation. The categories cover over 100 different types of experiences from destinations to transport and customer service. Nominees for the 2009 awards received more than 100,000 votes.

Eden’s nomination follows Cornwall’s win of the Best UK Holiday Destination category last year and its nomination this year of the Favourite UK Holiday Region award.

Martin Williams, Sales and Marketing Director at Eden, said: “It’s a real honour to be nominated for the Best UK Day Out Experience. Like our plants, Eden is constantly growing, so new attractions like our Rainforest Lookout mean that there is plenty to see whether people are visiting for the first time or the fiftieth.

“It would be the icing on the cake if Eden, one of Cornwall’s largest tourist attractions, could add to the county’s success in winning the Best UK Day Out Experience category.”
