A spectacular circus show like never before, featuring aerial acrobatics and breathtaking stunts, will be staged at the Eden Project this summer to celebrate its 10th birthday.

Labyrinth will be performed right across the Eden site from July 29 to August 29, including inside the famous Biomes, and will culminate in an incredible finale under Eden's very own big top - the first time the entire attraction has been used as a stage.

Created exclusively by award-winning and critically-acclaimed circus company Nofit State to celebrate Eden's 10th birthday, Labyrinth was launched today (Monday, February 21) with a stunning display of aerial acrobatics in the Mediterranean Biome.

Tim Smit, Eden's chief executive, said: “I think our visitors are going to love Labyrinth. Nofit State Circus are fantastic and adventurous and there's a spontaneity about them which is really exciting.

"Labyrinth is going to be performed around Eden which I think is the most magnificent big top in the world. In the summer evenings, Eden will sparkle and it'll look as if you're doing magic under a million stars.

“It's our 10th birthday and NoFit State's 25th birthday so it's a wonderful combination. I think it's marvellous."

More of an event than a show and suitable for the whole family, Labyrinth will be a fusion of circus, music, dance and drama creating a sensory feast amid the beautiful Eden landscape during this summer's evenings.

It will feature breathtaking aerial acrobatics and poignant and poetic imagery, all accompanied by a live band creating an unforgettable theatrical experience.

There are no 'best seats' - the two-and-a-half-hour show is promenade-style across the Eden site with performers moving among the audience and daring displays taking place overhead.

Tom Rack, Nofit State's creative producer, said: "We've performed in some amazing venues but this will be one of our most spectacular, performing against the stunning backdrop of the Biomes.

"We're creating Labyrinth especially for Eden's 10th birthday and, just like the project itself, it will be amazing. It’s going to be a show to thrill, enchant and touch the soul of the young and the young at heart."

Nofit State are the leading large-scale contemporary circus company in the UK, and regularly perform internationally.

The Guardian says Nofit State are "Cirque du Soleil without the Disney and the disinfectant... this is the future of British Circus." A Scotsman review said a recent production was "one of the most shake-your-head in disbelief beautiful things I have ever seen" and the Independent declares "it's jaw dropping."
