Community groups get tooled up at the Eden Project

School children and community groups from the local area will be coming to Eden to collect reconditioned garden tools as part of the Tools Shed project.

Last spring, the Eden Project teamed up with HMP Dartmoor and The Conservation Foundation’s Tools Shed project to provide the first permanent place in Cornwall for people to recycle their garden tools.

Since then, old, broken and unwanted tools have been dropped off at the collection point at Eden and then transferred to HMP Dartmoor’s dedicated Tools Shed workshop. At the workshop, prisoners have been able to learn a variety of new skills while refurbishing the donated items.

At the start of the year, schools and community groups were offered the chance to win one of the sets. After an overwhelming response, 20 lucky groups were picked out of a hat.

Biscovey Youth Football Club, St. Winnow Primary School in Lostwithiel and New Horizons Community Farm Project in Golant are among the groups that will be presented with the reconditioned tools.
