Last chance for Cornish businesses to take part in Eden’s award-winning programme
The Eden Project is offering 10 Cornish businesses the chance to take part in its acclaimed development programme Green Foundation starting at the end of this month (March 2012).
The programme helps businesses gain a competitive advantage in the transition to a low carbon economy. It scooped the prize for Best Business Support Through Mentoring and Education at the Western Morning News Business Awards last November.
The programme has helped hundreds of organisations save money, collaborate with other businesses, reduce carbon and improve their working practices.
Eden is now inviting more Cornish businesses to take advantage of the final 10 subsidised places, made possible by funding from the European Social Fund.
The four-day course is available for just £75 and takes place on March 28, 29, 30 and April 16.
After this session, the programme will only be available at full price as the funding will cease.
Steve Wright, Facilities Manager at the social enterprise Fifteen Cornwall in Watergate Bay, recently completed the course. As a result the restaurant has significantly reduced its landfill and energy bill and is now and working with nearby businesses to develop better and more cost-efficient waste management processes.
Steve said: “I’ve come back to work with renewed vigour. And that filters down slowly through all the other staff.”
Gerald Ward from Trevanion House Holidays also made significant cost savings after completed Green Foundation.
He said: “It has challenged my lifestyle and business values. So much has happened and this is down to the course, which helped us understand that we can make a change – and that we need to.”
Other success stories are Trenython Manor hotel near Fowey which made huge savings on its energy bills and South West car dealer Ocean BMW, who have garages in Falmouth, Plymouth and Torbay, which developed and implement environmental plans to reduce consumption and waste.
Gaynor Coley, Managing Director of the Eden Project, said: “We are leading a business revolution, to develop the skills which will have the most positive impact and take your business forward into a low carbon future. Be part of the solution and join us.”
