Swing trio Bartoune will be winging their way to the Eden Café for an evening of lavish gypsy jazz on Friday, March 16.

The trio is comprised of Sebastian Gutiez on guitar, Charlotte Ostafew on baritone saxophone and Tom Allen on double bass.

They formed in 2008 and have performed extensively in London and the South West, both as a trio and as part of the inimitable jazz collective Zen Hussies, who played at Eden’s Arts Café in 2010.

The unusual combination of instruments gives the band a fresh sound. Bartoune takes gypsy jazz in a new direction by using their combined training in jazz, blues and classical music. The addition of clarinet and occasional vocals gives a diversity to songs that can both excite and enthrall an audience, while creating an intimate ambience.

Dan Ball, Eden Café Manager, said: “The Eden Café provides the perfect setting for Bartoune’s gig. With great food and drink, beautiful music and a friendly atmosphere, it’s shaping up to be a special night.”

The gig takes place from 8pm until midnight. Tickets cost £4, or £3 for concessions and tickets bought from the café beforehand.

A selection of locally sourced beverages will be on offer throughout the night. Bread, dips and a choice of seasonal hot food will be available until 9:30pm.
