Something to chew on at the Eden Café
On Friday May 4, the Eden Café is in for a taste of Americana, with rock n’ roller Hans Chew and roots act Small Town Jones.
Hans Chew, who is based in New York, produces a powerful brand of music influenced by the cream of American artists, including Nick Cave, Jerry Lee Lewis, The Rolling Stones and Jimi Hendrix.
His debut album Tennessee and Other Stories, which was released in 2010, received high praise from Rolling Stone magazine and was included in Uncut magazine’s Top 50 Albums of the Year. Hans is currently working on his new album and touring around the UK.
Small Town Jones, otherwise known as Jim Jones, hails from North Devon. Taking inspiration from the area’s beautiful coastline, his music has a mellow, folky sound.
Jim recently travelled to Texas to record his new album Freight Ships. It contains a mixture of drum infused and acoustic tracks, along with tender lyrics and tones of American roots.
Ian Williams, Operations Director at Eden, said: “This is set to be a roof-raising night. Hans Chew and Small Town Jones make a great combination, bringing a slice of America to Cornwall.”
The gig takes place from 8pm until midnight and tickets cost £5, or £4 for concessions or tickets bought at the café beforehand.
A selection of locally sourced beverages will be on offer throughout the night. Bread, dips and a choice of seasonal hot food will be available until 9:30pm.
