Cornish band 3 Daft Monkeys will be enthralling the audience at the Eden Café with their energetic live performance on Friday, June 8.

While their songs are deeply rooted in the Celtic folk tradition, the band adds an unusual twist with influences from Balkan, Latino, electronic dance, reggae, dub and even punk rock music.

With a combination of melodious songs, fast-past fiddles, guitars, whistles and foot drums the result is an infectious desire to get up and dance.

Since forming in 2000, their unusual approach to music has earned them a loyal live following, both in Cornwall and further afield. They have performed on both the Glade and Avalon stages at Glastonbury Festival and have headlined festivals in Holland, Belgium and Germany.

Their live performance impressed ‘Whispering’ Bob Harris so much that he invited them to perform a live set on his BBC Radio 2 show, which was then featured on Jo Whiley’s BBC Radio 2 show. 3 Daft Monkeys have also been played on Mike Harding’s BBC Radio 2 show and on BBC Radio 3’s Late Junction.

Ashley van Dyck, Eden Café Manager, said: “I can’t wait to see 3 Daft Monkeys here at the Eden Café. Their uplifting tunes and sheer energy are sure to get the whole place moving.”

The gig takes place from 9pm until midnight with doors open at 7:30pm. Tickets cost £8, or £7 for concessions or tickets bought at the café beforehand.

A range of refreshing summer drinks, along with Sharp’s Eden Ale, are available and the kitchen will be serving food, including the new antipasti platter, until 9pm.
